Annual Compensation:
- Salary $52,000 (Florida Certified)
- Health, Dental, and Vision Benefits; As an employee you do not pay a premium for yourself or any covered dependents for these benefits. This equates up to $22,800 in insurance premiums paid by the agency 100%

Role and Responsibilities
Certified:
Maintain care, custody and control of inmate population, serving a variety of assignments in the Corrections Bureau.
- Interpret and enforce all applicable federal, state and local laws, general orders, directives, policies and procedures of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Model Jail Standards
- Work schedule will be 12 hour rotating shifts
Physical Demands
- Must take and pass the Physical Abilities Testing (PAT) with a maximum time of 6:04
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must be 18 years old, or older
- Must have obtained a high school or GED diploma
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License
- Must have a Social Security Card
- Must have successfully passed the Florida Corrections State Officer Certification Exam (SOCE) or are currently attending a Florida approved Criminal Justice Academy for Corrections
- Must not have been convicted of a felony
- Must not have used illegal drugs in the last 12 months
- Must not have received a dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces
- Must be able to work various shifts with rotating days off, as well as weekends, holidays and emergency events such as hurricanes
- Must be able to speak, write and understand the English language
Preferred Skills
- Computer literacy
- Knowledge of Lee County geography
- Polite, courteous and professional demeanor
- Bilingual
- Experience as a Corrections Officer in the state of Florida or out of state
- Currently attending a Florida approved Criminal Justice Academy for Corrections
- Experience working or volunteering with a law enforcement agency or a Correctional Institute in a civilian or certified capacity
