Part-Time Maintenance Technician

Schedule: Up to 24 hours per week. Work must generally be conducted Monday-
Friday between 7am-12pm, with flexibility based on agency needs

Job Description:

This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and operational
readiness of Lee County Sheriff’s Office facilities. The employee performs routine maintenance,
pressure cleaning, and general facility support services across multiple agency locations to
ensure all buildings and surrounding areas are safe, organized, and consistently presentable in
accordance with agency standards, policies, and operational needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain interior and exterior areas of LCSO facilities in a clean, safe, and orderly condition in accordance with agency standards.
  • Perform necessary tasks to enhance/maintain building exteriors, sidewalks, entryways, parking areas, and other assigned surfaces, including but not limited to pressure washing, landscaping, painting, etc.
  • Travel between multiple agency locations to complete assigned tasks based on operational priorities and agency needs.
  • Monitor facility conditions, identify maintenance needs, and report deficiencies or coordinate corrective action as appropriate.
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Operate, maintain, and ensure proper use of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles in accordance with safety guidelines and agency procedures.
  • Assist with minor maintenance, repairs, facility setup, and organization to support daily operations.
  • Maintain accountability of equipment, supplies, and materials required for assigned duties.
  • Support special projects, emergency operations, and short-notice assignments as directed.
  • Maintain work areas, equipment, and storage locations in an organized, clean, service-ready condition.
  • Perform general site cleanup, including removal and proper disposal of trash, debris, and other materials, to ensure a safe, orderly, and professional environment.
  • Assist with furniture and equipment assembly and/or movement, as needed.
  • Demonstrate reliability, initiative, attention to detail, and proactive communication while working independently or collaboratively.
  • Ability to tow and back up a trailer.
  • Adhere to OSHA and Internal Safety Protocols.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to heat, humidity, rain, and other weather elements.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials and equipment. Must be able to lift, push, and pull 75lbs.
  • Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to effectively follow direction, support operational needs
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
  • Must be responsive, communicative, and able to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively with other personnel to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in alignment with agency expectations.

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old, or older
  • Must have obtained a high school or GED diploma
  • Must be a US Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License or state issued ID card 
  • Must possess a Social Security Card 
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony 
  • Must not have used illegal drugs in the last 12 months 
  • Must not have received a dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand the English language
