The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has 19 boats. Our vessels range from small rescue inflatable boats and SeaDoos to our biggest triple-engine boat. This fleet has the most advanced and state-of-the-art technology built in, including towable side scan sonar, underwater ROVs, UAVs, and underwater drone capabilities used during sonar searches.
Deputies who are assigned to this specialty unit are well-versed in Lee County waters and boating safety laws. Their primary functions include search and rescue, boating safety enforcement, living marine resource protection, homeland security, and assisting the Underwater Operations Unit with underwater drone and sonar searches. They are trained and available to perform rescues, conduct investigations, and patrol our waterways.
Our Marine Unit was recently recognized with the Golden Lifejacket Award from SeaTow for our diligence during search and rescue calls.
This group of highly trained professionals provides general assistance to boaters, conducts rescue operations and daily boat inspections, and patrols Lee County waterways to ensure your safety remains at the forefront.
Only a select few are equipped with the in-depth knowledge base and experience necessary to carry out their specific job duties each day. We’re grateful to have these gentlemen protecting Lee County residents, visitors, and our seas.
