Under the leadership of Sheriff Carmine Marceno, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office launched our in-house Criminal Justice Academy in 2024 to prepare future law enforcement and corrections deputies for careers in public safety.
Our academy was created to provide high-quality, agency-focused training while meeting the standards established by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. By bringing recruit training in-house, we are able to deliver a more personalized learning environment that reflects the professionalism, expectations, and culture of LCSO from day one.
The LCSO Criminal Justice Academy combines classroom instruction, hands-on practical exercises, and real-world scenario-based training to prepare cadets for the responsibilities of serving and protecting the citizens of Lee County.
Our cadets are trained by experienced instructors and command staff who emphasize accountability, teamwork, integrity, and service to the community.

As one of only a small number of sheriff’s offices in Florida to operate an in-house academy, we are able to provide agency-specific instruction that directly aligns with the needs of Lee County and the expectations of our Sheriff’s Office.
