Lee County Sheriff's Office Press Release: Vehicle Found Submerged in Bonita; Two Deceased

At approximately 4:08 pm on Monday, February 24, 2020, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call for service behind the 26900 block of McLaughlin Boulevard in Bonita Springs.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a dark-colored vehicle in the water.  The vehicle was a distance from the shoreline and almost completely submerged. 

First responders located and removed a five-year-old male from inside of the vehicle.  Life saving measures were performed and the child was transported to a local hospital.  He was subsequently declared deceased just prior to 6:00 pm.

Further inspection of the submerged vehicle resulted in the location of a deceased 41-year-old female.

The investigation into this incident is active and ongoing.  Additional information will be shared in the form of a press release.
