Community Shred Event Returns
Are you concerned about identity thieves stealing your personal information? One way to avoid becoming a victim of this growing crime is to dispose of your personal documents by shredding items that contain your name, address, social security number, and other important data.
As part of National Crime Prevention Month and as a way to help keep your identity safe, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will host a community wide shred event on Saturday, October 12 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Bell Tower located on the corner of Daniels Parkway & US 41.
A secure on-site shredding truck provided by Secure Shredding Solutions will safely destroy your personally identifying information under the watchful eye of law enforcement volunteers. There is no charge to shred your documents; however, we request no commercial boxes. Please remove all binders, paperclips and staples before dropping off.
Here are a list of documents we feel are shred worthy:
- Bank statements, ATM receipts, canceled or voided checks
- All picture identification cards
- Credit cards, credit card bills, receipts
- Military documents
- Medical and dental records
- Pre-approved credit card applications
- Tax forms
- Any documentation that contains your social security number
