Starting Salary: $42,000

Shift Work: 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. (12-hour shifts)

Roles and Responsibilities

The Warrants Unit is open 24 hours per day 7 days per week, including all holidays. The Warrants Clerk provides clerical support performing public information assistance by aiding the general public on inquiries and directing individuals to the appropriate offices.  The Warrants Clerk provides 24/7 assistance to all law enforcement agencies inside and outside the state of Florida by confirming all warrants, protections orders, and domestic violence no contact orders housed by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Work includes clerical support duties such as answering telephone and radio calls, sending and responding to e-mail, data entry of warrants, summonses, protection orders/notice of hearings and no contact orders into the local data entry system as well as FCIC/NCIC, scanning and attaching documents to electronic files, responding to teletype hit confirmations and messages and making arrangements for extraditions.  

Physical Demands

  • Sit or stand and work on the computer for long periods of time
  • Bend, lift, carry (up to 25 lbs.), and reach with hands and arms
  • Repetitive motion using coordination and dexterity abilities

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old, or older
  • Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be a US Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License or state-issued ID card
  • Must possess a Social Security Card
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony
  • Must not have used illegal drugs in the last 12 months
  • Must not have received a dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces
  • Must be able to work various shifts with rotating days off, as well as weekends, holidays, and emergency events such as hurricanes
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand the English language
  • Must have knowledge of basic math, filing, and basic computer skills
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions

Preferred Skills

  • Computer literacy
  • Good typing skills (approximately 30 wpm) with a high level of accuracy of data entry
  • Polite, courteous, and professional demeanor
