PURPOSE

Increase understanding between citizens and officers

Increase awareness of law enforcement duties/responsibilities.

Allow citizen observation of the inner workings of our agency.

Our goal is to create a better understanding, communication and partnership between the citizens and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office through education, in order to establish a safer community and enhance the quality of life.

ELIGIBILITY STANDARDS

At least 18 years of age.

Any resident/business person located within Lee County.

No felony convictions.

Class size limited to 28 participants.

There is NO CHARGE to any participant who attends the Academy

WHAT IS IT?

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Citizen’s Academy is a ten-week program designed to give the participants a working knowledge of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

It consists of a series of classes and discussions held once a week, on a designated evening from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

Each class size is limited to approximately 28 students. There is no cost to anyone who enrolls.

Classes provide an in-depth view into various areas of law enforcement. It is educational and informative.

BENEFITS
When residents take a more personal interest in their community and neighborhoods, they will enjoy a safer and closer relationship with their neighbors. It is our hope that the graduates will become partners with us in identifying problems and solutions to crime issues that are affect our community and take their knowledge back into their neighborhoods where they can use it to enhance the quality of life.
