Student arrested for bringing firearm to school

On February 8th, 2019, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding a student possessing a weapon at Cypress Lake High School.

Deputies and detectives with the Youth Services Division investigated and learned Shane Humphrey (DOB 07/25/2002) possessed a firearm in his backpack.

Based upon the facts and information learned, detectives charged Humphrey with disturbing the peace and possession of a firearm while on school property.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated, “My top priority is the safety of students and our school campuses.  Make no mistake, we have zero tolerance and will arrest anyone who brings a weapon to school or threatens our children”.
