Traffic Stop Yields Multiple Arrests
On November 7, 2018, a Lee County Sheriff's Office deputy performed a traffic stop in the area of Gunnery Road and Varsity Lakes Drive, Lehigh Acres. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed from the Varsity Lakes community. Residents have reported multiple conveyance burglaries in the last week.
During the course of the investigation, deputies located property inside the vehicle that did not belong to the occupants. Deputies then located multiple victims from Varsity Lakes that had their vehicles burglarized earlier in the evening.
The East District Criminal Investigations Division assumed the investigation. In addition to solving multiple vehicle burglaries, detectives charged one of the suspects with grand theft of a motor vehicle.
Deputies charged Jerry Murassaint (3/23/03), Daquan Simpson (11/16/02) & Lamartine Malbranche (09/09/03) with 13 counts of burglary, property theft and one charge of grand theft of a motor vehicle. All parties were booked into the Lee County Jail.
