On Monday, January 29, 2018, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a call for service in reference to an on-going sexual relationship between two adults and two children.
Special Victims Unit Detectives conducted an investigation and discovered suspect, Cory Stewart (DOB 8-5-80), was having a sexual relationship with an eleven year old female. Marie Edwards (DOB 11-2-83), was found to not only have knowledge of the relationship, but she was also involved in a sexual relationship with a twelve year old boy.
Detectives secured a search warrant for the suspects’ residence. Inside, detectives recovered the suspects’ electronics which contained evidence of the crimes.
Cory Stewart was charged with Capital Sexual Battery. Marie Edwards was charged with Custodial Sexual Battery.
Undersheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement:
“Both Sheriff Scott and I, above all else, recognize the need to remove violent offenders from the streets and neighborhoods of Lee County. The apprehension of Stewart and Edwards, by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, places cruel and dangerous criminals in a place where they can do no further damage.”
