Death Investigation in Fort Myers - Update #2

The second person has been identified as John Perez (DOB 8/5/1971).

Based on the preliminary investigation this is an apparent murder-suicide. Through the investigation it appears that John Perez shot and killed his wife, Breanna, and the three dogs in the house.

The case remains active as detectives process evidence and complete reports.

A final determination will be made once the investigation is completed.

At this time, we have one homicide victim. The victim has been identified as Breanna Perez (DOB 11/17/1978).

The next of kin for the other involved party has not been notified as of yet.

The investigation into the case remains active and we stress that there are no outstanding suspects, the incident is contained, and there is no danger to the public.

Further updates will be provided as information from the investigation becomes available.

On Monday, September 25, 2017 at approximately 9:55 a.m., Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to 15330 Ballast Point Drive, Fort Myers and are now conducting a death investigation at that location.

Detectives believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
