If a member receives a retiree health insurance subsidy from the State, the Lee County Sheriff's Office shall reduce the amount it pays of the employee's health insurance premiums by the amount of the subsidy.
FULL TIME EMPLOYEES
The Sheriff’s Office pays 100% for member’s medical, dental, vision and life insurance (policy will pay one times your yearly salary at the time of your death, or twice that amount if the death is accidental). The Sheriff’s Office also pays 100% for your dependent’s medical, dental and vision insurance coverage.
RETIREES
LCSO only contributes to your medical premium based on your years of service. However, if a member has 20+ years of service, LCSO will pay 50% of their dependents medical premium.This retiree health insurance benefit is only available to a member when they retire. If an employee does not elect to receive the insurance benefit upon retiring, they do not have the option of receiving the benefit at a later date.
Please Note: Persons hired on or after October 1, 2009, are not eligible to claim additional years of service from previous FRS employers to qualify for employer-paid health and hospitalization insurance benefits. Also, the benefits payable under this subsection shall not be available to any individual commencing employment with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on or after October 1, 2010.
