Woman Busted for Fraud

A woman who fraudulently used a credit card found in a grocery store is not whistling Dixie tonight.

On May 21, 2012 the Lee County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the victim who says she dropped her credit card on the floor while shopping at a Winn Dixie.  The victim was notified by her bank that her card had been used at the nearby Circle K on Homestead Road in Lehigh Acres.  Due to the nature of the crime, the case was assigned to the Lee County Sheriff's Office Economic Crimes Unit.

Surveillance video shows a female with dark hair exiting the front entrance to the store and picking up the dropped credit card from the floor.  The investigation revealed that same suspect had been in the grocery store picking up a Western Union money transfer. 

A photo lineup conducted at the Circle K led to the positive identification of suspect Billie Jo Baxter, DOB 10-3-77, of Loxahatchee, Florida.  Following an interview with detectives, Baxter was arrested and charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and Theft.
