“Tip A Cop” to Benefit Special Olympics

2014 "Tip A Cop" Huge Success.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office and its event partners would like to thank all of the volunteers who participated in this years event and made it a year to remember.

We would like to personally thank Marc Sullivan and Sheila Turregano of Legacy Harbor Hotel and Suites, 2038 West First Street, Fort Myers, FL who made a substantial donation in the amount of $500 dollars to Special Olympics Florida.

 This generous donation along with many others brought our total to $4,155.90 this year.

As a reminder, please join us at the Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics Florida, taking place on April 25, 2014 starting out at Headquarters on Six Mile Cypress Parkway ending up at the Big Lots in North Fort Myers on U. S. 41 and  Pondella Road. The fun starts at 7 am.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is proud to participate, along with other local law enforcement agencies, in the 2014 Joe's Crab Shack "Tip A Cop" to benefit the Special Olympics Florida.

Media representatives are encouraged to join Southwest Florida law enforcement on Sunday, March 23 and Monday, March 24 at the annual “Tip A Cop” benefit at Joe’s Crab Shack in Fort Myers.

This annual fundraiser benefits local Special Olympics athletes. Deputies, officers, troopers and civilians will serve as celebrity greeters and waiters from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday at Joe’s Crab Shack, 2024 West First Street, Fort Myers.

Special Olympics also benefits from the annual “Law Enforcement Torch Run” scheduled for Friday, April 25. The Torch Run is an intra-state relay involving more than 5,000 officers from 300 city, county, state and federal agencies.

The Lee County Awareness Run begins at 8 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Office headquarters, 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway in Fort Myers, and ends at the Big Lots parking lot at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Pondella Road in North Fort Myers.

Participation is restricted to law enforcement and first responder agencies.

T-shirts and hats in support of this event will be on sale in the Joe’s Crab Shack lobby. Cotton shirts are $12, and hats are $10, or both can be purchased for $20.
