Deputies have arrested three people in this case. Gabriela Espinoza, DOB 1-28-94, of 824 Atherton Avenue, Lehigh Acres, is charged with obstructing law enforcement without violence, a misdemeanor. The two others arrested are minors and face the same misdemeanor charge. Because they are minors charged with a misdemeanor, their names are confidential per Florida Statute 985.04(1).

On Sunday, November 25, 2013, at 1:33 a.m., Lee County sheriff's deputies initiated a traffic stop for a safety violation in the area of Brookfield Street and Action Avenue in Lehigh Acres.
During the traffic stop, deputies observed several people bail from the vehicle. Deputies gave multiple verbal warnings to the fleeing occupants to stop, however they coninued to to run. Responding deputies heard shots fired as the suspects fled. Bravo District deputies converged on the scene and set up a perimeter. The sheriff’s office K-9 and Aviation Units responded to assist with the suspect search.
Persons of interest have been detained. The deputy was not injured.
This is an isolated incident and the community is safe.
Due to the nature of the call detectives with the Major Crimes Unit have assumed the investigation.
