On November 14, 2013, at approximately at 1024 am, the Lee County Sheriffs Office responded to an attempted burglary at 1138 Amherst St E. in Lehigh Acres.
Due to the nature of the crime detectives with Bravo District Criminal Investigation Division assumed the investigation.
The preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects attempted to commit an occupied burglary by trying to enter through the front door. As they tried to force the door open, they were startled by the homeowner. They fled in a 2000 Toyota Camry that was later confirmed stolen from North Fort Myers.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office Bravo Units set up a perimeter. A short time later a second 911 call was received by LCSO dispatch from a neighbor that heard gunshots coming from 728 Manuel St. This neighbor then saw two male suspects running from the residence carrying a television. They were observed fleeing the area in the same silver Camry from the first incident. It was discovered that the family dog was shot and killed during this incident.
As deputies were responding to this incident, yet another citizen approached deputies and alerted them to two suspicious males that had just knocked on his door and were fleeing from the area. Deputies spotted the vehicle driving south on Bell Blvd then west on Leeland Heights Blvd. While driving erratically westbound in the eastbound lanes they struck a Kia Soul in the rear bumper. The driver was transported to the hospital for precautionary purposes. A child that was in the vehicle and not injured and released to a relative.
The Toyota Camry then crashed into a fence and came to rest at 405 Leeland Heights Blvd. The suspects then fled on foot. A brief foot pursuit resulted in the capture of the 2 suspects without incident. A pistol was recovered in the Toyota Camry.

Suspect 2: Ronnie L. Sheppard Jr. (DOB 02-09-1997), 2640 Park Windsor Drive Apt. 202, Fort Myers 2011
Kia Driver: Courtni M. Gerow, (DOB 06-17-1989) 527 Bethany Village Circle, Lehigh Acres.
