Wheeling and Dealing Lands Man in Jail
Tuesday, July 9, 2013

Jason Randall, DOB 06/01/1978 of 1250 Kasamada Drive, Ft Myers, was arrested for car shopping at a local establishment without the necessary funds.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Unit began investigating Randall after they received a complaint from a representative from Sam Galloway Ford. The investigation revealed that on April 25, 2013, Randall, purchased a new 2013 Ford Mustang for over $30,000 dollars. The financing of the vehicle was contingent on Randall providing a down payment of $9,500 dollars. In an attempt to solidify the purchase, Randall produced a personal check along with a letter indicating the funds were available in his account.

Detectives quickly discovered several inconsistencies in Randall’s story. The check he provided was drawn from an account that was previously closed and the letter produced to verify the funds available was in fact bogus. Once discovered, Randall continued his charade by assuring the dealership he was in good faith attempting to secure financing from another bank.

Ultimately, Randall confessed to his misdeed acknowledging he knowingly and fraudulently obtained the vehicle and was arrested and charged with uttering a false instrument, grand theft and worthless checks / insufficient funds.

Due to the investigation led by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Unit, Jason Randall will not have the opportunity to swindle another merchant in our community.
