Deputies Looking for Shooter

Lee County deputies are looking for the man that shot another man during an attempted robbery early this morning.

On March 3, 2013 at 12:07 a.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call in reference to a shooting that had just occurred at 221 Ortiz Avenue in Fort Myers.

Deputies met with the victim who stated that he had encountered an unknown male near his driveway.  The suspect displayed a firearm and attempted to rob the victim.  During the altercation, the suspect shot the victim in the leg.  The victim was admitted to an area hospital and is being treated for non life threatening injuries.

The victim described the suspect as a dark skinned black male, between 25 and 40 years old, approximately 5 foot 7 inches tall with a thin build.  The suspect was clean shaven and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy black pants.

Detectives from the Lee County Sheriff's Office Robbery Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
