MedicAlert + Alzheimer’s Association Safe Return for individuals with Alzheimer’s or related dementias and MedicAlert Found for individuals with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) are two programs developed by the MedicAlert Foundation as a partnership program called L.E.A.P. (Law Enforcement Agency Portal), in which law enforcement agencies can enroll local residents via an online portal, into the MedicAlert national registry/database. Each person registered receives a free medical identification bracelet and free 24/7 emergency support services.

Wandering statistics for Alzheimer’s disease are staggering, 6 in 10 adults with Alzheimer’s or related dementias will wander; they are also extremely high for individuals with ASD. Statistics show that 50% of individuals with ASD will elope.
