Commander Cummins Bio

Commander Cummins - Copy (2)Commander Paul Cummins began his career at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 as a Patrol Deputy after five years of service in the United States Air Force as a Security Specialist, serving in the Philippines, Germany, and the Continental United States.

Prior assignments include working as a Patrol Deputy in South District, Patrol Response Team, Field Support Unit, Narcotics Detective, Joint Auto Theft Squad Detective, U.S Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force Officer (Naples and Fort Myers), High Liability Trainer, Training Sergeant, Assistant Commander of East District, and Commander of the Training Unit.

Commander Cummins proudly served as a Special Operations Unit (SWAT) team member and leader for 24 years, and is a “Plankowner” of the Waterborne Strike Team.

Commander Cummins graduated from Edison Community College (FSW) with an Associate in Science Degree in Criminal Justice, and Hodges University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (Summa Cum Laude). Commander Cummins was honored to be selected as the “Student Speaker” to represent the student body at the 2017 Hodges University Commencement Ceremony.

Commander Cummins currently serves as Commander of Professional Standards, overseeing Internal Affairs, Accreditation, Training, Communications, Central Records, Inspections and Public Services.

Originally from Kentucky, Commander Cummins has resided in Lee County since 1990.
