Colonel Eberhardt Bio


Colonel Eberhardt - CopyColonel Tom Eberhardt is the Corrections Bureau Commander for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. The Colonel holds both a Florida Corrections and Law Enforcement Certification. His current responsibilities include the operations associated with the Core & CPU (Community Program Unit) facilities.

Colonel Eberhardt started his career with the Sheriff’s Office in 1993. During his tenure he has held various positions within the agency to include Transition Team Supervisor, Correctional Emergency Response Team Leader and Staff Inspector. Most recently, he served as the Commander of the Ortiz Site, overseeing two facilities, the Bureau’s budget, contracts, technical and security systems, as well as planning & research.

Colonel Eberhardt also currently serves on the Florida Sheriff’s Association Executive Advisory Committee and is a Certified Jail Manager through the American Jail Association Commission.  He has written several articles for the Corrections Today Magazine and is a Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission inspector.

In his spare time, Colonel Eberhardt can be seen and heard playing guitar for his church or jamming with other musicians.
