Deputy Margena Silvia Nunez Memorial Deputy Margena Nunez

Margena Silvia Nunez lost her life Sunday, October 22, 2006 while conducting traffic control in the area of State Road 82 and Sunshine Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. Deputy Nunez was directing motorists around a traffic accident that had already resulted in a fatality at 40th Street and State Road 82, when she and her patrol vehicle were struck by an oncoming pickup truck.

Corporal Patrick Healey Corporal Patrick Healey

On May 7, 2004, after approaching a reckless driver he had stopped, Corporal Patrick Healey was involved in an altercation with the driver. During the altercation, Corporal Healey suffered a heart attack and died five days later, May 13, 2004.

Canine AlkoCanine Alko

On April 19, 2003, police were called to a report of a suspicious person.  Canine Alko and his handler tracked the path of the suspect.  The suspect stabbed Alko during the apprehension, and Alko later died from his injuries on April 20, 2003.
