Application Information

Our revised employment application process consists of two phases. Part I is a "pre-screen." This process helps us identify who you are and whether you fully understand our organization’s policies regarding alcohol, drugs, and domestic violence.  Once we have received your completed Part I Prescreen of the written packet,  you will be contacted and interviewed by one of our Background Investigators to determine if you qualify to continue with Part II of our process which consists of the actual application and testing requirements. Upon approval, we will send you Part II.

Applicants applying for non-certified positions will be required to take the Test of Adult Basic Education (T.A.B.E.). Those applying for certified positions will be required to take the Florida Basic Abilities Test for law enforcement and corrections officers (F.B.A.T.) and the physical agility test. This test information will be included in the Part II packet.

After you have taken and passed your T.A.B.E. or F.B.A.T. and agility test, you should personally bring those results along with your completed application and required original documents (birth certificate, DD214, High School or G.E.D. diploma, etc.) to the address below. At that time your fingerprints and photograph will be taken. During the next 90-120 days your application will be processed and your background will be thoroughly investigated. Upon completion of a favorable investigation you will be scheduled for an oral interview.

After you have completed your oral interview and have been given a contingent offer, you will be required to take a drug screen, polygraph or voice analysis test, a physical exam, a psychological exam (if applicable) and a hearing test (if applicable).

As soon as any decision is made regarding your application, you will be notified. Should you have any questions concerning any phase of the application process, please contact the Human Resources Division at (239) 477-1323.

The Application Prescreen is provided in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf) and requires you to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If you do not already have this software, please click the icon below to download this free software and install it. Then click:
