Corrections Officer Paul J. Faragoi, assigned to Main Jail Division, was awarded for corrections Deputy of the Quarter on Jul 30, 2008.
2nd quarter-2008 On Saturday, May 25, 2008 Corrections Deputies Marsha Sutphin and Paul Faragoi were processing an inmate on lewd and lascivious charges. The inmate was hesitant about signing his name and was unable to do so without looking at his arm band. Upon further investigation utilizing CJMS and AFIS this individual was found to have several aliases and was a prior sex offender that had been deported to Mexico. He was then detained for ICE. Due to these officers going that extra mile this sexual predator was removed form the streets of our community.
We are proud to name them as our Corrections Deputy’s of the quarter.
Lieutenant Augie Malagon, assigned to Delta (South) District, was awarded for Deputy of the Quarter on Jul 30, 2008.
2nd quarter-2008 On Saturday, April 26th, Delta District Deputies responded to a toddler found submerged in the family pool. The child was unconscious and not breathing. Lt. Malagon was the first responder on scene and took over administering CPR from the distraught father. CPR was continued until EMS arrived and decided to transport the child to Gulf Coast Hospital. The child was listed in critical condition, but was expected to survive.
Lt. Malagon’s training, instinct and ability allowed him to perform calmly in this situation. His efforts are to be commended; his quick action prevented this incident from ending in tragedy. It is our honor and privilege to nominate Lt. Augie Malagon as Deputy of the Quarter.

Aviation Mechanic Ii Russell L Morris, assigned to Aviation, was awarded for Civilian of the Quarter on Jul 30, 2008.
2nd quarter-2008 Chief Mechanic Russ Morris has been selected as our Civilian of the 2nd Quarter for 2008. In addition to the daily maintenance requirements necessary to keep the fleet of three law enforcement aircraft fully mission capable, the past three months presented both planned and unplanned challenges that Russ met with high energy and enthusiasm. He excelled under pressure; demonstrating teamwork, superior managerial acumen, and a sense of personal integrity beyond reproach.
We proudly name this professional as our Civilian of the Quarter.
Volunteer Mitchell J. Oltean, assigned to Voice, was awarded for volunteer of the Quarter on Jul 30, 2008.
2008 2nd quarter Mitchell Oltean has been named as our Lee County Sheriff's Office Volunteer of the 2nd quarter for 2008. Mitchell started with the V.O.I.C.E. program in 2007 and works primarily out of Alpha District. While on routine patrol ad checking a vacation home Mitchell noticed a rear door screen had been cut and stolen items had been dropped in the grass. As a result of his dedication to his duties this burglary was stopped before more items could be taken. It is my pleasure to name Mitchell Oltean as our Volunteer of the 2nd Quarter for 2008.
